Who we are

ShieldWare is operated by Miguel Tavares, a sole trader (Empresário em Nome Individual) registered in Portugal, NIF PT208070290, 3850-022 Aveiro, Portugal. In this Policy, "ShieldWare", "we" and "us" refer to this operator. For questions about this Policy, contact [email protected].

Information we collect

Through the contact form we collect your name, email address, company, phone number, the domain you want to monitor, the plan you choose and your message.

When you use the ShieldWare service, we process account and organization details, the domains you verify, and the security observations, findings and reports the service produces for those domains.

We also receive limited technical information needed to run and protect the website, such as IP address, browser type, request logs and language preference.

How we use information

We use this information to reply to enquiries, provide and secure the ShieldWare service, run the security checks you ask for on domains you have verified, send the alerts and reports you set up, and improve ShieldWare.

Depending on the context, the processing is based on performing a contract or taking steps you asked for before one, complying with legal obligations, our legitimate interest in running and securing ShieldWare, or your consent where it is required.

We do not sell personal information.

Service providers

We use trusted providers for hosting in the European Union, email delivery, security and abuse protection (Cloudflare, including Turnstile on the contact form) and, with your consent, website analytics (Google Analytics). They process information only as needed to provide their services to ShieldWare.

Data retention

We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required by law, security or legitimate business needs.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal information, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent. Contact [email protected] to exercise them.

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Portugal, this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

Cookies and local storage

shieldware.app uses a necessary cookie to remember your language. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to detect abuse and protect the website.

With your consent, shieldware.app uses Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to measure how visitors use the website: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how the visit started. Google Analytics only sets cookies (names starting with _ga) after you click Accept in the cookie banner. Until then, and if you reject, it runs without cookies and sends Google limited, cookieless signals, such as that a page was viewed, which Google uses to estimate visits. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
